Virtual Exchange for University Students

In the Spring of 2021, the American Center will offer Soliya’s Connect Program for up to 28 Tunisian university students to participate in online video dialogue sessions with students from the United States, the Middle East, and other North African countries. During these sessions, you will explore key global issues with fellow group members through a series of guided discussions, readings, and an independent project.

The weekly sessions include:

Week of March 15: Introductions & an Exploration of Global and Social Challenges
Week of March 22: Identity & Deeper Exploration of Global Challenges
Week of March 29: Group Selected Topic
Week of April 5: Intercultural Communication
Week of April 12: Life Stories
Week of April 19: Group Selected Topic
Week of April 26: Group Selected Topic
Week of May 3: Youth Empowerment & Working for Change

The program package will include:

  • Up to three meetings with U.S. Embassy representatives
  • Eight weekly video dialogue sessions (2 hours each)
  • Required readings for week 1 and week 4
  • Final project (video interviews and one final paper)
  • Weekly journal-style entries (optional but highly encouraged)
  • A post-program evaluation

Eligibility requirements include:

  • Tunisian university student
  • Available for at least 8 weekly online sessions, as well as readings, a final project and additional meetings with Embassy representatives
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to engage in the full program
  • English communication skills
