USAID Fiscal Reform for a Strong Tunisia (FIRST) Supports the Ministry of Finance in Modernizing its Tax Admimnistration

USAID’S FISCAL REFORM FOR A STRONG TUNISIA (FIRST) supports the Ministry of Finance (MOf) in MODERNIZING ITS TAX ADMINISTRATION

FIRST is providing support to the CIMF in its efforts to build an integrated tax information and payment collection system, thus enabling the rollout of e-services to improve the efficiency and transparency of tax administration and to reduce compliance burdens for taxpayers. FIRST and MOF recognize that this workstream is an important step towards adopting a sustainable approach to modernizing the tax administration.

CIMF new server financed by USAID

The FIRST project launched several activities during the week of February 4th, 2019  as part of its IT workstreams. FIRST provided the CIMF with a high capacity server, accompanied with a technical training in the use of the newly acquired test and training environment. The CIMF engineers were trained in creating different and separate working environments within the same server. The new server will now host, the data exchange (UXP) software, the efiling-software, as well as other Ministry of Finance applications.

FIRST is also supporting the CIMF in rebuilding and implementating a new target tax information and payment collection system. The objective of this activity is to overhaul the current information system which is composed of different applications using outdated technology, and install a more efficient system, with a centralized and streamlined repository. The launching phase has commenced, providing CIMF with the requirements specifications and necessary support to implement this activity.

“I would like to thank FIRST and USAID for collaborating with us on restoring and modernizing our information system. This is a project that we have been planning since 2010 and today, we have high hope that it will finally be implemented..”                             Salah Meddeb, General Director of CIMF
