Did you know the historic site of Utique is 127 years older than Carthage? It is brimming with cultural history spanning Phoenician, Punic, and Roman civilizations, but much remains to be discovered. As part of the Embassy-funded “Tourath” project, Chargée d’Affaires a.i. Natasha Franceschi visited the Tunisian Scouts who are participating in an excavation camp at Utique! Through the Tourath project more than 70,000 Scouts will earn cultural heritage merit badges by volunteering at cultural sites and assisting with excavations and regional exhibitions. “The Tunisian Scouts truly represent the best of Tunisian values. We are proud to partner with these young leaders to preserve these historic sites and promote Tunisia as a leading tourism destination.” – Chargée Franceschi
