The U.S. Embassy and the Ministry of Women Affairs launched a joint working group on October 21 to strengthen women’s participation in the Tunisian economy, focusing on e-commerce. The working group, which includes representatives from the government, the private sector, and international experts will develop actions to improve the e-commerce legal framework and to incentivize Tunisian women participation in e-commerce. Creating jobs and supporting entrepreneurs, particularly youth and women, are priorities for U.S. assistance in Tunisia. Since 2011, the United States has provided $2 billion in foreign assistance to strengthen the Tunisia’s economy, security, and democracy.
