U.S. Donates 336,000 Johnson and Johnson Vaccine Doses

Providing safe, effective, and free vaccines is a key component of the United States’ commitment to combating the COVID-19 pandemic in Tunisia and globally. Today, we delivered 336,000 Johnson and Johnson vaccine doses in support of Tunisia’s national COVID-19 vaccination goals. Since July, the United States has directly donated over 2 million COVID-19 vaccines to Tunisia to save lives, reopen schools and help the economy rebound.

The United States’ vaccine donation was provided through the #COVAX mechanism, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and UNICEF. The arrival ceremony at Tunis Carthage International Airport was attended by U.S. Embassy Chargée d’Affaires Natasha Franceschi, Minister of Health Ali Mrabet, Senior National Security Advisor Vice Admiral Abdelraouf Attallah, Director General of Military Health Major General Dr. Mustapha Ferjani, and Advisor to the Presidency Souad Trabelsi.
