Renew a Passport In-Person

Appointments

The Consular Section schedules all non-emergency services to U.S. Citizens by appointment only except certain DS-82 passport renewals. Note: If you are an adult renewing a full-validity (10-year) passport that is currently in your possession and expired less than 5 years ago, you may be eligible for an online passport renewal which does not require a scheduled appointment. Click here to see if you qualify.

Please follow this link for more information about scheduling an appointment. To make your appointment, please visit this link and select Tunisia.

Please note that the previous TunisACSAppointments@state.gov email scheduling system is no longer in use and emails to that inbox are not monitored.

We, of course, accept emergency cases without an appointment.  In an emergency, please contact the U.S. Embassy via the main switchboard at +216 71-107-000.  In an after-hours emergency, please call +216 71-107-000, press 0 and ask for the duty officer.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

If you need a new passport, please bring the following to the Embassy in-person during your scheduled appointment:

  • Your old passport.
  • One (1) recent color photograph taken full face, no eyeglasses, with a white background, measuring 5 cm by 5 cm (2 in x 2 in).
  • Either a DS-82 passport application (if you have a full validity, 10 year passport issued within the past 15 years that is not mutilated in any way), or a DS-11 passport application (all others). If you or your children’s previous passport(s) were issued for a 5-year validity period, use the DS-11.
  • Cash (dollars or Tunisian Dinars) or U.S. credit card or electronic payment confirmation from www.pay.gov (for eligible DS-82 renewal applications only).

For minors under age 16, click here for special requirements and instructions. Minors are not eligible for online payment at this time.

If eligible, you may be issued a limited validity passport if your travel is imminent. You will be required to replace this passport by mail  when you complete your travel. You may not be issued another emergency passport until this passport is replaced. We therefore encourage you to replace your emergency passport immediately upon completion of your travel.
