Appointments

The Consular Section schedules all non-emergency services to U.S. Citizens by appointment only.

Effective July 1, 2023, U.S. Embassy Tunis is using a new online appointment self-scheduler for all routine ACS services including passports, CRBAs, and notarials. To make your appointment, please visit this link and select Tunisia.

For more information about eligibility and applying for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), please click here. Note: If you are applying for both a CRBA and a passport on the same day, please select “CRBA” when scheduling your appointment.

Do not schedule your appointment before submitting your online application and payment. If you do, you will be instructed to book a new appointment when you appear for the interview. When your CRBA appointment is scheduled, please email TunisACS@state.gov to request additional passport appointments during your CRBA appointment.

After scheduling your appointment, come to the Embassy at the appointed day and time with all of your application forms and required original documents, photocopies of original documents, as well as any additional documents requested by consular staff.

All applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad (CRBA) and passports require an appointment, with the exception of certain DS-82 passport renewals–see here for more information. New passports take approximately three weeks to arrive in our office. You should apply at least one month in advance of any planned travel to allow time for your new passport to arrive. Please be aware that all U.S. citizens must be in possession of a valid U.S. passport to enter and exit the United States.

After scheduling your appointment, come to the Embassy at the appointed day and time with all of your application forms and required original documents, photocopies of original documents, as well as any additional documents requested by consular staff.

Please be advised that appointments for American Citizen Services cannot be used to inquire about visa matters. If your inquiry concerns a visa to either visit or immigrate to the United States, please first consult the visa information listed at www.travel.state.gov.  Further inquiries are accepted by email only: TunisIV@state.gov for immigrant visa inquiries or TunisNIV@state.gov for Non-Immigrant visa inquiries.

We, of course, accept emergency cases without an appointment.  In an emergency, please contact the U.S. Embassy via the main switchboard at +216 71-107-000.  In an after-hours emergency, please call +216 71-107-000, press 0 and ask for the duty officer.
