Thomas Jefferson Alumni in Action

Inspired by their rich and diverse experiences in the United States, Thomas Jefferson alumni came back with a great deal of enthusiasm and a strong desire to give back to their local community.  Through the recently established Thomas Jefferson Alumni Association, these returnees founded an English club for young students in the cultural center in La Marsa, Tunis.  The returnees are tutoring fifteen students, ages 5 to 12 years, and teaching them English through fun activities such as music, art and games.  Last weekend, U.S. Embassy Alumni Coordinator Najla Abbes and Cultural Affairs Specialist Hafedh Zanina visited the tutoring club and interacted with the young students.  They also delivered a collection of English- language learning and teaching materials that will help enhance the educational experience of the young students.
