Representatives from the Smithsonian Institution visited Tunisia to conduct a workshop on cultural tourism, marketing, and security. Organized in cooperation with Ministry of Tourism and Handcrafts and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, the workshop brings together experts from museums across Tunisia. This workshop was the final stage of a project resulting from President Beji Caid Essebsi’s visit to Washington DC in May 2015.
At the closing ceremony the U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Counselor Stacy Barrios delivered remarks congratulating the participants and trainers on the successful completion and conclusion of an important collaborative project that will help promote Tunisia’s cultural tourism and ensure its sustainability.
Other components of the project include an online campaign on the Smithsonian Magazine website—Discover the #TrueTunisia. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/sponsored/true-tunisia-instagram-180960142/?no-ist
