PAS and ECON organized a presentation entitled “You are Your Brand” to emphasize the power of branding to create a space for innovation. The presentation was targeted to start-ups, entrepreneurs, and SMEs, but also drew interest from law students interested in intellectual property issues. While the event focused primarily on trademarks, questions from the audience in the follow-on discussion period also hit upon patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and cybersquatting. Post’s focus on branding follows a surge in U.S. franchising activity in Tunisia, with recent market entry from well know U.S. brands such as JOHNNY ROCKETS®, PAPA JOHN’S®, and CHILI’S®. With the recent signature of more than ten new franchise agreements between local entrepreneurs and U.S. companies, Post anticipates further growth in U.S. brand awareness amongst Tunisian consumers.
