Mourad Ben Hassine Ben Ali, PhD: The Fulbright Visiting Scholarship Program

MOURAD BEN HASSINE BEN ALI, PHD:
THE FULBRIGHT VISITING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, AUGUST 12, 2015 TO JUNE 30, 2016, BIOLOGY

The Fulbright visiting scholar program made me realize how beautiful it is to travel and meet other people from different cultures. My stay at the University of Arkansas was very productive as a research scientist; I gained more experience and confidence. The colleagues and friends I’ve made during my stay in Northwest Arkansas have now become part of my life. They were amazing, inviting me to their homes for dinner and barbecues, showing me nice places to visit in Northwest Arkansas.

My stay at the University of Arkansas was very productive as visiting scholar. I published four original research manuscripts in collaboration with other colleagues. I improved my ability to perform and excel at independent research. The Fulbright program allowed me to publish high quality papers which will have an excellent impact on my scientific career.

For future exchange programs participants, I advise you to not only focus on the academic aspect of the program—research, research, teaching, and education—but to also dedicate time to meet new people.  It’s important to make new friendships, experience the American lifestyle, and to try to adapt to the American culture and everyday life during your stay in United States.
