I offer my sincerest condolences on behalf of the American people to the families of those who have died and been displaced because of the recent flooding in the southern regions of the country, including the family of National Guard Chief of Station Mehdi Haddad, who lost his life in the line of duty while working to protect the residents of Matmata. We also offer our heartfelt sympathies to the family of the delegate of Matmata, Mohsen Ben Ansi, who is still missing, and to the families of all the victims in the governorates of Gabes and Tataouine. The American people wish the Tunisian people a speedy recovery from this terrible tragedy.
