On Saturday October 17th, the American Embassy celebrated the International Day of the Girl at the American Corner Tunis. A panel of three speakers shared their stories of the work they are doing to empower girls in Tunisia and around the world. Amie Williams, Executive Director and Co-Founder of GlobalGirl Media, Ahlem Nasraoui, founder of the Young Leaders Entrepreneurs NGO and Amina Chida, TechGirls alumna, blogger, and young leader shared their visions for adolescent girls in 2030. The celebration was very interactive, with panelists answering questions from the audience, which included many Access students from Tunis, as well as fielding questions and comments from Access classes in Gafsa and Sfax.
Amina summed up the theme of the day well: “It is never too early to become a leader, never too early to accomplish things. You will always find something to do—a problem to fix, a cause to stand for.”
