Health Alert: New Quarantine Policy for International Arrivals to Tunisia

The U.S. Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia is providing an update on government-mandated COVID-19 mitigation measures, including new requirements for travelers entering Tunisia.  U.S. citizens should refer to the Embassy’s COVID-19 Information Website for regular updates about COVID-19 in Tunisia.

New COVID-19 quarantine and testing measures:

Effective May 3, all arriving international passengers are required to complete a mandatory seven-day-quarantine at a government selected hotel at the traveler’s expense.  Individuals are then required to complete a new RT-PCR test between the fifth and seventh day and present negative results in order to depart from the quarantine facility.

All arriving passengers aged 12 and over are still required to present the negative results of a RT-PCR test upon arrival, taken less than 72 hours before departure.  Printed test results should include the date the test sample was taken and the passenger’s name.

Please note that the quarantine and testing policies apply to all incoming passengers, regardless of their vaccination status.

Private U.S. citizens are required to comply with the Tunisian government’s quarantine and testing policies.  The U.S. Embassy cannot assist private U.S. citizens in receiving exemptions from the mandatory COVID-19 requirements.

The Tunisian Ministries of Health and Interior will determine if individual travelers will be permitted to enter Tunisia, and the U.S. Embassy is unable to intervene if a traveler is denied entry to the country.

All other measures (to include the curfews, mask-mandate, and ban on large gatherings) still apply.  Please see the Embassy’s COVID-19 Information Page for more details.
