GIST Web Chat on Angel Investing

The IRC and American Corner Sousse hosted viewing parties for the GIST (Global Innovation through Science and Technology) web chat entitled De-Risking the Deal: Angel investing in Science & Tech Startups. The participants in both spaces submitted several questions revolving around the discussion points on Valuation, Angle Investing and minimizing the risk in that. One of their questions was “Angel Investors are supposed to provide what is called the seed for funding, and in return are entitled to a portion of the startup. Assuming the investment proves a good one, and the startup has moved on to a new round, there is a risk of seeing the funders being dispossessed of their stock. What are the guarantees in this case against such a risk?” The discussion was very rich with similar thoughtful questions and take-aways from the expert. We will continue to host viewing parties of the GIST web chats in our spaces where entrepreneurs can take the opportunity to exchange thoughts, ideas and experiences. Follow us on Facebook or contact us at IRCTunis@state.gov to learn more about when those are happening.
