
The Assistance Unit manages three Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) Leadership Programs that grant motivated youth scholarships for universities in the region, as well as exchanges and training that build expertise and linkages among professionals across the region and with the United States.
MEPI Leadership Programs enhance cultural understanding, international collaboration, institution building, knowledge sharing, and economic development between U.S. and Middle East/North Africa-based students, entrepreneurs, lawmakers, and civil society leaders.
Tomorrow’s Leaders

Tomorrow’s Leaders provides four-year university scholarships and internship opportunities at select institutions of higher learning in the Middle East to senior high school students who have the potential to become leaders. This program nurtures leadership skills and the spirit of civic engagement and volunteerism among outstanding university-age students at the American University of Beirut (AUB), the Lebanese American University (LAU), and the American University of Cairo (AUC). The Student Leaders

The Student Leaders program is an intensive five-week exchange in the U.S. for undergraduates and graduates between the ages of 20 and 24 to develop leadership skills and expand their understanding of civil society and the democratic process. The Leadership Development Fellowship (LDF Fellowship)

The Leadership Development Fellowship (LDF Fellowship) provides leaders from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with the opportunity to complete training in civic engagement, social entrepreneurship, and leadership. Emerging leaders across sectors from the MENA region will participate in a 5-stage, 12-month fellowship to identify innovative ways to address social and economic challenges in local communities. Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate (TLG)
The Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate Program offers students from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) a unique opportunity to pursue a master’s degree through leading American institutions with American-accreditation in the MENA region: the American University of Beirut (AUB) and the Lebanese American University (LAU).
