Ben Moeling took up his duties as the Deputy Chief of Mission in Tunis in September 2016. He served as DCM in Sudan from 2014-2016, and was Charge d’Affaires in Khartoum from February to July 2016. He arrived in Khartoum from Geneva, where he was the Counselor for Refugee, Migration and Humanitarian affairs at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
In that capacity, he was deeply involved in efforts to resolve the Syria crisis. Previously, Mr. Moeling served as the director of the U.S. Provincial Reconstruction Team in Kandahar and as the Deputy Chief of the Political Section at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. Other postings include Vietnam, Haiti, Taiwan and Washington.
Mr. Moeling is married to Sandra Huang, a consultant and expert in development and stabilization, who has served with USAID and several international organizations.
