To celebrate the World Teachers’ Day on October 5, the Embassy organized an English conversation hour, facilitated by the English Language Fellow, a visiting American professor with a specialty in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) who spends the academic year in a Tunisian university. The session was not only an opportunity for Tunisian participants to practice and improve their English language skills with a native speaker, but also a useful chance for students and teachers to share their ideas and opinions on what makes a good teacher, and how to be creative in the classroom. The chat was also broadcast live on the U.S. Embassy Facebook page [hyperlink to page].
The U.S. Embassy provides a variety of opportunities for Tunisian teachers of English to enhance their skills, including professional exchanges to the U.S. such as the Teaching Excellence and Achievement and the SUSI for Educators programs, and free online trainings such as MOOCs, webinars and an E-Teacher program.
