Message for U.S. Citizens: Travel and Repatriation Assistance

The U.S. Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia, understands that U.S. citizen travelers have been affected by the suspension of international flights and the closure of Tunisian commercial airspace.

If you are interested in being contacted in the event that additional flights or repatriation flights to the United States are scheduled, please send an email to TunisACS@state.gov and include the following information for each U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident traveler in your family or group:

  • Full name as it appears on your passport
  • Passport number
  • Date of birth
  • Date of passport issuance and expiration
  • Email address and contact phone number

Tunisia Country-Specific Information:

  • Tunisia’s Ministry of Health has now confirmed 173 cases of COVID-19 in 15 of the 24 governorates.
  • The largest number of COVID-19 cases are in the densely populated regions of Tunis, Ariana, and Djerba.
  • Beginning March 18, the Government of Tunisia announced a daily curfew, effective from 18:00 through 06:00.  In addition:
    • Inter-city travel and movement will be prohibited except where absolutely necessary.
    • Outside of the curfew hours, gatherings in public spaces and streets are limited to three people.
  • Individuals who are exhibiting symptoms and/or have been exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 should immediately contact the Tunisian Ministry of Health urgent medical services SAMU (190).  Due to a high volume of calls, callers should expect delays and continue to try the number until the line is answered.
  • Other COVID questions can be answered on the MOH hotline (green number, free of charge) 80 10 19 19 (available 24/7).

Tunisia Entry and Exit Requirements:

  • As of March 20, the Government of Tunisia temporarily suspended all incoming and outgoing commercial flights to Tunisia.
  • For travel and repatriation assistance, U.S. citizens should email TunisACS@state.gov with the following information:
    • Full name as it appears on your passport

    • Date of passport issuance and expiration
