Commemorating Memorial Day

Each year on Memorial Day, Americans pause to remember our military members who have made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives in defense of liberty and freedom. Ambassador Joey Hood, Commanding General of the U.S. Army’s Southern European Task Force Major General Todd Wasmund, and Commissioner of the American Battle Monuments Commission Raymond Kemp attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the North Africa American Cemetery in Carthage yesterday to pay their respects to the 2,841 American servicemen and women buried there and the 3,724 named on the Wall of the Missing who gave their lives during World War II.
