Tunisia: CLDP Led a Workshop on Streamlining Handicrafts Exports

On August 21, the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in the framework of its MEPI-funded project, led a workshop on the different technical aspects of successfully exporting handicrafts for 100 local small and medium enterprises focusing on the production of artisanal products. The exercise included guidance on design for a foreign market, interaction with professional buyers, customer service, and contract negotiations as well as procedural aspects of shipping and customs clearance.  This is part of a multiyear effort to assist Tunisia increase handicraft exports through recommendations based on international best practices.  Since U.S. government effort has started, handicraft exports to the U.S. have tripled.
