During her trip to Zarzis, Chargée d’Affaires Natasha Franceschi toured the commercial port, Gare Maritime Zarzis, where she highlighted the port’s potential as a critical gateway for Tunisia’s exports. She later stopped by Société El Bahhar, a commercial seafood company, and met with the founder, Ali Agrebi, a visionary who is contributing to Tunisia’s standing as the second largest exporter of seafood in North Africa! The United States, through USAID, has helped the company recover from the impact of COVID-19, implement new systems to improve production, create nearly 50 new jobs, and reach new international markets.
Over the last three years, we have invested over 264,000 USD in the seafood and crab sector helping 16 producers increase sales and exports by 45% to reach 66 million USD.
