Because of the increased Gender-Based Violence reports during confinement, the Safety and Women’s Advancement (SAWA) program promptly responded to the Minister of Women Affairs’ request to support online coaching of Violence Against Women (VAW) hotline operators. SAWA organized individual and group coaching sessions with 17 hotline operators. The sessions covered practical topics such as stress and work management, provision of assistance, and connecting victims to service providers. Additionally, SAWA procured and delivered new hotline equipment to partnering organizations in the regions. According to the Minister of Women Affairs, the number of notifications regarding VAW increased during the quarantine period by seven times compared to the same period in 2019.
