My TechWomen experience was really great, and I learned much more than I expected. What I remember the most is the willingness of the mentors to help others and to create opportunities. I feel like I belong to a big family. If I need some help, I know there will always be a TechWomen friend or mentor who will be there for me.
It was new for me to see people giving their time and energy to help others. I thought, ‘OK, I should do the same when I return home.’ After the program, I wanted to encourage girls to start careers in science and technology and to introduce them to entrepreneurship, so I launched Technovation Challenge, a competition for young girls to develop mobile applications to solve a community problem.
This year, we have more than 100 girls registered for Technovation’s second year. I really want to create new opportunities for Tunisian youth, especially in the rural areas.”
