(as prepared)
Brigadier General Ferjani and colleagues from the Department of Military Health, Good Morning.
The unprecedented challenges of COVID-19 continue to affect us all. General Townsend and I here to reaffirm U.S. commitment in working hand in hand with the Tunisian government to reinforce Tunisia’s COVID-19 prevention and response efforts.
During my recent visits to the Tabarka and Kairouan Regional Hospitals, I witnessed firsthand the admirable resilience and courage of Tunisia’s frontline healthcare workers. I salute also the dedication of CONSUMED workers in Kairouan in producing PPE such as we are donating today.
At the request of the head of the virology department at the Military Hospital, we are very pleased today to donate a DNA extractor that we hope will increase COVID testing capacity for the benefit of all Tunisians.
Thank you again for inviting me to attend today’s ceremony to celebrate our ongoing cooperation with the Ministries of Defense and Health and our strong partnership with the Tunisian people.
I wish everyone continued safety and salute your resiliency during these challenging times.
