2023 Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Young Women Leaders


The U.S. Embassy in Tunis is pleased to announce the 2023 Study of the United States Institute (SUSI) for Young Women Leaders.

This intensive exchange opportunity will enhance participants’ knowledge of U.S. democratic principles and society, culture, values, and institutions, while developing their leadership skills in areas such as critical thinking, communication, decision-making, and management. It will also provide participants with opportunities to discuss current U.S. and global women’s issues such as: progress and opportunities for women’s leadership; combatting violence against women; addressing income disparity and other challenges to women in the workplace; women’s health issues; and the ways in which women can contribute to global peace, security, and stability.

The Institute’s five-week academic program and one week study tour will examine topics including, but not limited to, active citizenship and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy, civil rights and protections, voting, social justice, gender equity, community-building, grassroots and youth activism, political leadership, media literacy, preventing disinformation, and volunteerism.

Program Dates:  The five-week programs will take place beginning in June 2023

Eligibility Requirements:  Candidates must be 18-25 years old female Tunisians with no previous experience in the United States.  Participants must be undergrads who have completed at least one semester of university and have at least one semester remaining in their studies after the end of the SUSI program.  Fluency in English is required.
